TODAY’S READING: Ephesians 1; Ephesians 2; Ephesians 3; Ephesians 4
SCTIPTURE: EPHESIANS 1:17-19
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.”
OBSERVATION:
The Spirit of wisdom and revelation is the Holy Spirit. I think of all of the different things that have revealed who God is to me - His nature, character, His plan for my life, and His love. It is funny because as I think back on my life before I was a believer, I can see that many of these same things were part of my life but God was missed.
Hardships were just hard until the Holy Spirit brought revelation and used them as a tool to bring God’s plan into focus. Nature was simply a place to escape the business of everyday life until the Holy Spirit brought revelation and showed me the beauty and intricacy of God’s creation, of which I am part of - the great care and intention He in creating the wilderness he had with me. Things that used to be ordinary are now seen through enlightened eyes and God is found and Hope is known.
APLICATION:
I need to pray for the Holy Spirit to continually bring revelation and wisdom to my life. To make ordinary things spiritually significant. I’m not pretending that there is a spirit behind every rock, but I do believe that God can be found in the beauty of life and there is a spiritual lesson to be learned in the midst of hardship.
The ordinary becomes extraordinary when the Holy Spirit enlightens our hearts and brings revelation in the midst of everyday life.
PRAYER:
Father thank you for your goodness extended to me. I love the way you make yourself known to me. Thru prayer and scripture of course, but also thru life and relationships. You are so good to me and my family. I love you. In Jesus name, AMEN!
